The Purbeck Cottage Kitchen

The Purbeck Cottage

A minimal but warm and traditional kitchen

We were approached by the client early on in the renovation of this cottage in Corfe Castle, and helped to work through design options that made the most of the relatively small kitchen space - which also had to function as circulation between the lounge, dining room and back garden.

We reached a solution that created a light, airy and uncluttered space that allowed for the inclusion of a statement piece of furniture in the form of a kitchen island made in spalted beech and London plane.

The birch ply cabinets have shaker style painted poplar fronts with a vertical beading detail, bringing a warmth that offsets the contemporary and minimal finish of the floor and worktop.

We also made cupboard doors for the dining room which used london plane handles to echo the island’s drawer fronts, and made the windows shutters used throughout the cottage.

From initial conversation through to post installation Sam, Peter and Tim were fantastic. They took time to really understand our needs and preferences and interpreted these into the most beautiful and sociable kitchen, shutters, doors and bathroom joinery. Sam’s attention to detail through design and installation meant they exceeded our expectations every step of the way.
